Joaquim Bages

Criminal lawyer and lecturer in criminal law at the University of Barcelona

Joaquim Bages is a criminal lawyer, and is also a criminal law lecturer in the Legal Practice School of the College of Lawyers of Barcelona and at the University of Barcelona.

He holds a doctoral degree in law and political science (with honours), for which he obtained an award.

He is a member of various criminal law and other research groups and is the author of several articles in specialist criminal law journals (including “Limits to the disappearance of types of crimes: approach to the concept of violence in the Special Part of the Criminal Code”, Electronic Journal of Criminal Science and Criminology; “The object of prohibition in the crime of rebellion in Art. 472 of the Penal Code from the perspective of the social and democratic model of the rule of law as foreseen constitutionally”, Criminal and Criminological Studies; and “The disputed legitimacy of legal-criminal protection of religious sentiments. From the publication of caricatures of Muhammad to Willy Toledo”, La Ley Penal).

He is also the author of monographs such as “The principle of harm in abstract danger crimes” (Ed. Tirant lo Blanch), “The criminal taxation system. Political-criminal principles and limits of tax offence types in Art. 305 of the Penal Code” (Ed. Juruá) and “The criminal protection of religious sentiments. Special reference to the weighting of legal and penal rights” (Ed. Tirant lo Blanch).
